Tuesday Tips: Picky Eaters Anonymous

When I became a mom I swore up and down that my children would be mini gourmets. They would love CA rolls, asparagus, seafood, and a variety of fruit. Although, we got stuck in the dreaded chicken nugget, mac n' cheese, and hot dog cycle by the time my daughter was 2 years old.

So I busted out the big guns, I tried special veggie of the day, different meats, and yes even bribing with sugary treats...none of it worked until I stumbled upon a brilliant idea. Muffin Tin Monday.

Muffin Tin Monday consists of eating lunch in a muffin tin instead of a plate. Sometimes I do themes such as spring, summer, a color or a letter. However, every Monday I sneak in a "new" food for my picky little princess. I use a six cup muffin tin and usually put the following in the pan: a veggie, a fruit, a protein, a special treat, our something new to try, and an old stand by.

Muffin Tin Monday has expanded the taste buds to raw carrots, cucumbers, kiwi, lunch meat, and home made fish sticks.

My daughter looks forward to Monday every week and is sad if I miss a Muffin Tin Monday.

How do you get your kids to try and like new foods?
